KNFU

Kings’ Norton Foundation Uganda (KNFU) is a charity arm of Kings’ Norton school (KNS) and isregistered as an NGO with the government of Uganda. KNFU’s mission is to foster inclusive education through enabling underprivileged, and vulnerable children and/or those with special needs to attain quality care and education. KNFU strongly believes that we are blessed to be a blessing to others. Our motivation is anchored in the biblical principle of loving your neighbour as you do to yourself (Mark 12:30-31).

We determined not to let barriers of economic status or physical disability deny any child quality education. 21 children from deprived backgrounds and 5 special needs children are currently enrolled at KNIS. The need is big and increasing day-by-day with more parents approaching us for places for their special needs children. You can be a solution by partnering with us through the following ways:

Sponsor individual child for from deprived backgrounds is otherwise unable to access education.

Help us develop and expand inclusive learning environment for all children with and without special needs to learn together. This support will cover Inclusive classroom infrastructure development.

Acquisition of learning aids and/or tools to facilitate inclusive learning by all children

Inclusive co-curricular (sport/play) infrastructure development.

Help train our teachers and children in Christian and special needs education. Every teacher can only give what they have and so, their training is crucial in making inclusive education a success.

Support Community outreach programme aimed at cultivation of principles of Christian education and parenting and skills for effective care for a special needs child at family and community levels.

Objectives
The overall aim of KNFU is to offer quality services to vulnerable children especially those with special needs. The Organisation is also set to achieve the following objectives.

• To facilitate the provision of high-quality care and education to the target group,hence laying agood foundation for their life. Services may be both in cash and in kind.
• To empower community groups, CSOs and churches to participate in the community emancipation and development processes.
• To empower communities, understand and appreciate policies governing them and become their own advacotes to register positive changes in their lives.
• To strengthen community health welfare through promotion of improved health care services as services as ameans of having an economically active society.
• To promote good governance in poverty alleviation programs conducted by KNFU especially in education, sustainable agricultrure,gender, children especially those with special needs, youth and HIV/AIDS.
• To advocate for the rights of communities especially the most vulnerable groups (vulnerable children with special needs) to actively participate in all developmental programs affecting their daily lives.
• To increase gender equity and seeks to address the dicriminative practices inhibiting children and youths’ potential in economic production and rights in the community.

Angel’s centre for Children with special needs Uganda is an organisation that offers psycho- and physio-therapeutic support to children with special needs. Through KNFU, Kings Norton International School will receive and incorporate graduates from Angel’s centre into mainstream education at Kings Norton International school.

Mercy link foundation Africa, a faith based Non-Governmental Organization seeking to equip and empower the local Church, Grass root organization and individuals with a passion to reach the lost and vulnerable in Africa. RATIONALE FOR THE STRATEGIC PLAN
KNFU strategic plan provides it with a five year road map to guide its operations, mobilise human and financial support and direct organisational development through the strategic period.

• The Strategic Plan defines the next steps in realising KNFU’s vision and Mission for the period 2021-2026. The since foundation has witnessed several challenges but also significant achievements. KNFU will capitalise on the achievements and learn from the challenges in executing its work going forward.
• KNFU will build and Sustain strong partnerships to scale up it’s work while recognising the various contexts in which it operates. Since KNFU has its focus on Vulnerable children especially those with Special needs, the Organisation will derive its strategic direction from contextualisation of the affairs of the same in Uganda and beyond.
• The development of this plan is as a rewsult of the major global and national changes in approaches towards development work since inception.

KNFU’s mission is to foster inclusive education through enabling underprivileged, and vulnerable children and/or those with special needs to attain quality care and education and as we know we can’t talk of care and safety without talking about “shelter”. and this is why KNFU is also having a building and construction project because the need is really skyrocketing and we are receiving many persons with special need who we must accommodate.

• Developing critical mass of teachers skilled in special needs education and empowering communities to fight against stigma of children born with physical and/or learning disabilities.
• Empowering community groups, CSOs and churches to participate in the community emancipation and development processes.

• Complementing government poverty alleviation programmes.
• Advocating for community rights particularly those of the vulnerable, and promoting gender equity initiatives to ensure gender equality in our community
